defined in xfs/support/kmem.c ; used in lots of places to a pain to
rename (nor desirable for IRIX compat.)

where is the qlogic driver?  i grepped the kernel and didn't see
kmem_zalloc used by any scsi code;  are you able to tweak that or is
it a binary module?
