Hello,

I looked on the mailing list and couldn't find
anyone else reporting this, but if someone has please
forgive me.

I tried installing the RH 8.0 XFS installer with the
cd on SGI site. Everything went fine untill it tried
to install the kernel. It said it couldn't install
the kernel rpm and this was a fatal error. The only
option was to reboot.

I verified the media, and everything checked out.
Then I looked at the kernel rpms, ran a rpm --checksig
and sha1 and md5 sums were ok on the kernel rpms.
However I was installing on an athlon, and I didn't
see any athlon rpms on the cd. I know that RH has
athlon rpms on it's cd and that's what get's
installed.

Then I thought that maybe I should put the athlon
rpms from the site in the directory with the other
cd's. I tried cutting a new cd with those rpms in the
directory, but the same thing happens.

So is there some other file I should have altered?
I don't know much about modifying the anaconda
installer, but I would think it has some type of file
somewhere where it lists all the rpms. I looked at
comps.xml, but it just lists packages, not their
architectures. Has anyone successfully installed this
on an athlon, unfortunately I was going to try it on
an intel machine, but didn't have time before I went
home. My home machine is the similar to the one at
work, and it fails also.

Please help,

Jason Corbett
