sync doesn't do the job

Hi,

We are running xfs1.1 on linux 2.4.19 with a CF. But sync command doesn't
seem to flush all the CF, a remount -ro doesn't sync the buffers either.

I heard the xfs uses a different buffer system, is this the cause?
