EVMS is going through some pretty radical restructuring right now.

If you are not already using it, I would wait a few months for it to settle 
down.

FYI:
With the new structure, Device Mapper (dm) from Sistina is providing the kernel 
APIs and a lot of functionality.  Then EVMS will be providing dm plug-ins for 
any unique kernel features they need.

The user land parts of EVMS are not being drastically changed, except now they 
talk to dm (and md??) instead of talking to a dedicated EVMS kernel api.
