Is anyone using a Broadcom card with the tg3 driver on a smp system. We
have a dell 4600 that locks every other day. There is a redhat errata
about this at https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2002-292.html . I
can't find a patch for that kernel to fix our problem......any
suggestions?

Install the kernel-source rpm. Download the tg3 1.2 driver from http://people.redhat.com/garzik/ and patch the driver.

Recompile this kernel and the lockups should go away. As noted on linux-poweredge@xxxxxxxx the actual speed may be of influence as well. Most people that see the crashes are using the card in 100Mbit mode. I myself and a few others have not seen this problem yet on with the card connected at gigabit speeds.

The 2.4.18-19 kernel still did not fix the lockups reading comments from the other list.

Cheers
