------- Additional Comments From bootsy52@xxxxxxx 2003-01-05 17:20 -------
1. It's new to me that you couldn't use configure options, because for what are
they there otherwise.
2. A complete Gnome Build with --prefix=/opt/gnome2 --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome2
--localstatedir=/var installs everything the way expected, despite of that some
defaults are overidden and some are not. XFS Progs are the first packages that
do not. Every other program I build so far, behaves (in my eyes) correctly.
3. Even if I just run
./configure
make
make install install-lib
the installation procedure fails to copy (example taken from attr-2.1.1)
libattr.so to /usr/local/lib, so the installation procedure is buggy, this is
also true for the provided rpm's as you can see here:
http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/SGI/xfs/cmd_rpms/i386/libattr-2.1.1-0.i386.html
4. If only some of the configure parameters could be used then this should in my
eyes at least documented in doc/INSTALL where currently is no info about that
you can only use a specific combination of configure Arguments.
Please correct me if I'm wrong
