We'll see. Even if the 1.2pre is the only version we release, it's not
that horrible if you have to do a kernel upgrade to get to 1.2-final.
The only problem I have with the installer as it is now is the text mode
install which barfs before I even get to any install screen.
I have not saved the dump yet though. I can reproduce it. The standard 8.0
text mode works though. I'll send it later.
The first build I made with the 1.2pre1 kernel-source rpm on a 7.2 box
hanged at bootup with "Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31"
And sometimes one line later. I will recompile this kernel from scratch and
try again though. I don't think it is XFS related anyways.
Installers are no fun, and the time can be better spent tracking down
bugs.
The only X installs is a bit of problem on my notebook though since the
installers (redhat and sgi) contain a bug that incorrectly sets the size of
installer screen on my notebook.
Plus I have a few servers which don't have a mouse or a decent monitor
which means I can't do a X install. Aargh...
Just a request :-)
Cheers
