Log formats are incompatible between Irix and Linux, an Irix filesystem
must be cleanly unmounted first, or run xfs_repair -L on it to zero the
log - in fact you may have to do this.

I did just mount an Irix filesystem (made in a file not on a partition)
on linux without problem this morning.
