I always add sync at the end of critical scripts. Sometimes i insert
supplemental "sync"s inside the script, after important steps are
completed.

But be aware that, on extremely busy machines with large amounts of
memory, sync can trigger a write storm on your disk array that might
hurt performance. It's only for a short while, but sometimes it matters.

And you don't really need sync in all your scripts. Perhaps in only
5..10% of them.
