Hi, A way of doing it is saving acls in a file that will be saved with datas. You can produce this file really efficiently with getfacl and the magic recursive option :-) I wrote on the the subject recently in rsync mail list since i need to synchronize acls between 2 fileservers and rsync don't support them actually.
