I've got quite the same problem when trying to compile another 2.4.18 kernel with gcc 3.1. So I came back to 3.0.4 and all work well.
What's your release of gcc ?

it's gcc-3.1.1 i'll try with 3.0.4 ant let you now

Do you have DMAPI configured as a module? That doesn't work, IIRC. You need to configure it into the kernel, then it will link properly.





well it's configured built in,
the error comes by making bzImage
