And what functionality do you want?  NFS isn't really Sun's...

You don't need samba for Linux clients.  You can export an XFS filesystem 
using NFS (just like you could an ext{2,3} filesystem) and mount it on any 
of Linux client.  All Linux distros that I know of come with NFS support 
compiled in.
