This error might be related to 990 which is filesystem corruption. If that
happens the fs can not be read or written from and appear empty.

If you then reboot it should all be there but you will need to run
xfs_repair _after_ a clean unmount and see if something is broken.
If you repair first and not replay the logs you can lose a lot of data.
