I forgot, which version of mkfs.xfs did you use. Some older mkfs.xfs
version incorrectly sized the inodeseize which results in the exact
behaviour you are describing.
This was fixed a few months ago and was only introduced during a short
time. You might have been unlucky.
Can you try recreating one of the filesystems with a recent mkfs.xfs or
better yet the latest CVS to be sure. (although 1.1 release xfsprogs will
do fine).
