If you have any reason to suspect devfs is running, try looking
in /lib/dev-state (which is the directory that get's copied
to /dev, at least on my Mandrake 8.2 box).  Also, you might
look at /etc/devfsd.conf or /etc/devfs/..., but I doubt you'll
find anything there.
