That's usually the userspace tools which need to be updated/recompiled. There are some libraries which need to be linked against your current kernel.

P.S. here are the current kernels that i have

`filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
