At that moment no initrd was used, but now I'm using initrd and it kernel
panics with similar error as before, but now at virtual address 00000040.

What tricks do you mean exactly? Right now, I'm using a linuxrc with mount
-n -t xfs -o logdev=/dev/sde2 / /initrd (statically linked mount).
