Hi,

Sorry for maybe offtopic, but what should I update in my slackware 8.0 to
really support files >2G?

I have xfs filesystem, tar can generate archive, say, 4G size but I can
not take it by ftp or samba or scp. Split works. So some programs work
with this files but many other dont. May be I need to update glibs or
something else?

Slackware 8.0, glibs 2.2.3

Your program is probably not compiled against glibc with BIG_FILE.

This might be fixed in -current but every program needs to be compiled with large file support.

Every program has two purposes one for which
it was written and another for which it wasn't
I use the last kind.
