Just an FYI....I was reading this thread with extreme interest and it's
looking like I was right.  I'm 99.99% sure this fixed the extremely
frustrating problem I had been having with VMWare 3.0.  This bug surfaced as
soon as I installed 2.4.17 and no one until now has been able to say why it
was happening, but my Virtual Machine would just commit suicide after about
20 minutes of operation.

After this patch, I've been running for 2 days w/o a problem.
