Dear XFS experts,
I successfully installed the XFS version of redhat 7.1 together with win98 on
my laptop. I am very satisfied with XFS, because I don't have to worry about
crashes, which hardly occur, unless I screw up.
I formatted all the partitions in the XFS file system, including the root
partition. In addition, I made a boot partition (also a XFS partition)
separately.
I have noticed two minor problems using XFS.
1. During booting time, right after the initial lilo screen,
loading linux kernel (i.e., "LILO .......................") takes about 30
seconds. For comparison, when I used ext2 file system, it took a few
seconds. What cause this and how can I resolve?
2. Compared to on ext2 and windows98, I could hear more frequent harddrive
activities. Is it normal and is there any way to calm down the activities?
If you can answer these questions, I'd appreciate it.
