Aha, so there are still updates to the 2.4.16 CVS. I saw all the TAKE
subject lines but ignored your postings because I thought these were for
the 2.5 kernel branch and the 2.4 branch will get an update when 2.4.17
is out.

Where a code change goes depends on what it is - bug fixes go into both trees, Changes which are due to the reworking of interfaces etc in 2.5 clearly only go into the 2.5 tree. The 2.4 tree
is not at all stationary.

The new development is in the 2.5 branch but that doesn't mean it is not neccesary to fix bugs in what people are using today.

Actually there has been a fair amount of fixing going on in 2.4 recently, a couple of nasty little bugs and quite a lot of code cleanup. Almost all the take messages have been for this, in general I have not been posting 2.5 take messages except for when I merge a new patch into the tree. I am definitely not posting the take messages when I merge a 2.4 change into the 2.5 tree. The message body should say which tree is being updated.
