> Is it easier to to "bulk updates" (2.4.x -> 2.4.x+1) rather than apply each > -preX patch? Easier, in the sense that you only have to do it once, instead of (in the case of 2.4.17-prex) 7 or more times. Merging involves setting up trees, merging, resolving conflicts, compiling, testing, and checking in - a fairly lengthy process. The primary reason we were following prereleases in 2.4.x was to create patches that Linus could merge into his tree. Now it appears that 2.5.x is the right target for this sort of thing, so -pre merging is happening there. -Eric |
