It was by design... Steve's kernel merge on 10/27 did the deed.

We had some LVM changes in there for XFS, but no more - I'd suggest
getting 1.0.1rc4 and using that w/ the xfs-patched kernel.  That's
what's in the test RPMs I've put out, and we've had reports of it
working well.
