Just to be sure - when it says "/sbin/grub-install" it's really trying
to run /mnt/sysimage/sbin/grub-install.  Did you check for
/sbin/grub-install, or /mnt/sysimage/sbin/grub-install?

That doesn't sound quite right...

$ rpm -qpl /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/grub-0.90-11.2.i386.rpm | grep install
$ /sbin/grub-install

When grub is installed, it's actually running off the installed system
at this point, not from the installer environment.
