Linux 2.4.4-xfs #2 , CVS kernel.
vmware 2.0.4 build 1118
Vmware will occasionally suspend to a strange mode where when
I restart vmware, the entire system locks up. Im forced to reboot.
The interesting thing is that when I look at the ~/.vmware/preferences
files ( a text file ) its filled with control characters
etc...
Its exactly the same size as the original maybe +_ a single byte.
When I look at the vmware data file directories, there is a lock
file present. I delete the lock files, restored ~/.vmware/preferences,
deleted nvram file and it works again. Otherwise, it continues to lock
my computer solid.
Im working on an upgrade to 2.4.7-xfs now.
