I find this really strange ... I have been using gcc3.1 for a few months now
and I havent had the slightest problem in compiling kernels or whatsoever...
My system runs a 2.4.13 kernel for days on end ... xfs and all ... have no
trouble
not in compiling ( unless U call some warnings about depreciated use of
initing var's compile problems)
not in running (system is up for days on a row, ftp serving, connected to the
internet doing e-mail relays etc... not a dormant system...)
not in anything else but smooth runnin.
doing 3D renderings in the background ... cpu is 1000% of the time 70-99% busy
runnin apps, writin and readin
I know that for support and debug reasons , one recommends to use egcs, or one
of the approved kernel compilers. but its not a mandatory thing ...
If ya just plan on running and help test the code base...
expect to get it to compile on any compiler ... as U cannot be shure of the
installed compiler in this chaotic user base, linux is ...
kind regards,
