OK, using kgcc and the CVS version of this morning (2.4.13-pre5, 11:39am
22.10.2001 British Summer Time) it still happens.

Now I have kdb, I can see what's happening, I think, and it doesn't look like
an XFS problem. It looks as though devfs is forking an 'ln' process which is
failing forever at the unlink stage.

An odd thing to note was that when I tried this after a boot -s, and ss-ing
about 10 times, an hlt instruction was sent, so now I'm super confused!

Anyhow this doesn't appear to be XFS related, so you folks can all forget
about it now. :-)

I rather suspect, that I need a different version of devfsd to go with the
2.4.10+ kernels. If anyone else is running a recent kernel and using devfsd
can they e-mail me off list to say what version they're using.
('strings /sbin/devfsd | grep ^1\.3' should work).

I'll build a 1.3.18 rpm and see what happens.
