I wanted to know what order are you supposed to install these patchs

Also for patch -p1 < patch is the 1 supposed to be replaced with a 2 when
installing the second patch?

No, the -p1 instructs patch to start patching in path deeper in the directory structure.

A lot of times patches are for a directory that does not exist on the local side. By going into the directory you want to patch and specifying the -p1 it leaves out the first part of the path.
