I am currently running just such a beast.  You do not want to
go there ... its a little bit hairy.

Wait for a couple of weeks or so - Andreas and I are busily
working on consolidating our code bases even as we speak -
and at the end of that process you will be able to mix and
match our two sets of patches much more easily (and the user
code will actually work with both, not one or the other).
