It's not a simple "tar.gz" of files. In other words, it does the same work than dd does, but it forget to copy all free blocks in order to save space and time. Then everything is kept (bootsector informations, all attributes that can exist, ...) It even keeps location of files on the disk, then the vmlinuz file won't be moved, and LILO will continue to work. regards francois dupoux |
