I'm running it on two boxes and so far it seems fine. I had problems
with 2.4.7 and 2.4.8 locking up hard (Athlon/AMD Irongate systems) about
once every day or two (these were desktops runnign X). Problem seemed
to be fixed around 9-pre2. It was pretty fast, heck two pre releases
came out within 24 hours of each other, but 2.4.9 was a small release -
most new kernels have like 8-10 pre-release patches, 2.4.9 had only 4.

Is 2.4.9 "stable" enough? Its awfully fast after 2.4.8. Linus only
brought it out because he is away for a week+.
(Yes I read the LKML). Oh the Linuxx kernel mailing list a read about
various compile failures 'n stuff. But alas if it doesn't work it's only
for a week...;-)
Keep up the good work!

For some reason I want to call this one "Mr Torvalds goes to Finland",
which will confuse people who do not read the linux kernel mailing
