The docs are confusing. Do i need to apply only 1 patch?
See the comment about "Do not use..."

patch-2.4.x-xfs-cvs-<date>.bz2
CVS seed patch: patch a vanilla linux 2.4.x tree to a "cvs update -d"
capable tree. The resulting tree includes all kernel and userspace
code for XFS. Do not use this patch unless you are willing stay
       up-to-date with "current".

patch-2.4.x-xfs-<date>.bz2
Patches to take a vanilla linux 2.4.x tree to an xfs capable
kernel. Note that these are kernel only patches, command
source can be obtained from the cmd_tars directory.
