Do you have any idea what could be causing this? Or any hints how to further
investigate the problem?
This could be a IO error on the device but since you are using raid that
should not be a problem unless the driver is doing funky things. Which
compiler did you use to compile the kernel?
I am not familiar with the easyraid II. Is that a IDE raid card?
If XFS detects an IO error (hardware or software error) it will shut down
the fs to prevent further damage.
