  Without meaning to start a flame-war, this is just one more example of
why letting other people make your decisions for you is not a good thing
to do.  RPM (and probably other package managers) go against many of the
technical and idealogical reasons for which I use Unix. ; )

  Yes, compiling from the source is sometimes more difficult - but making
your own decisions is usually worth the extra effort.
