Ahh... probably not. EAs are used to store additional information about
files; first time I came across EAs was in OS/2, where they were used to
store things like long file names and shortcut location tracking. You had
to be careful to use EA-cognisant tools to manipulate files, otherwise
lots of "interesting" things happened ;-).

I don't believe this applies to XFS.
