I am curious if you tried 2.4.6-pre2-xfs? The one patch I kept
mentioning before on fs/block_dev.c caused a lot of problems for me when
it wasn't installed. Every 2.4.5+ kernel I've run which had that fixed
has been completely stable for me (I don't use many of the advanced
features of XFS though, like ACL, or complications like NFS). With that
one patch 2.4.6-pre1-xfs has never gone down on me. I have intentionally
cut power to test it though, and I can't even begin to say how pleased I
am with it (it beats the hell out of all the problems with ReiserFS I
see on the kernel list).
