You have several options of keeping current
cvs update (oss as root) (slow updates)
cvsup (change updated directly from cvs tree on oss) (fast updates )
cvsup the cvs directory ito local drive space (i.e. dropping the tag=.)
then cvs update (local repository as root)
(half way in-between for speed twice the disk space but
can do all cvs commands)
