Forget it! It's not true, believe me. I made ALOT of test now and it
really doesn't matter.

We have lot of servers here with SoftRAID5 and SoftRAID1 on IDE and SCSI
and they are running for years now without ANY problem! And when it
comes to performance, nothing is faster than having a fast Athlon and a
fast operating system (linux) running as your raid controller! We have
all the big irons here from IBM, HP, Compaq, Siemens-Fujitsu, DELL with
all their super ultra caching raid and disk arrays but Linux SoftRAID5
is faster. Give it a try.
