Yep, the 1.0 release had a stand-alone devfsd that was adapted from a
Mandrake package.  The Red Hat kernel RPM build spits out it's own
devfsd package, which I mistakenly copied out for the first test
release.  You'll notice that it's missing from the 2nd test release
(PR2), for the reason you mentioned above - we'll just stick with the
original devfsd package from 1.0.
