Yep, that's a funky red-hat-ism, it's harmless. You can take "updfstab"
out of the initscripts if it annoys you too much.

That's due to devfs permissions, you can enable permissions persistence
in devfsd to get around it if you'd like.

Ok, that's a new one, I have not heard of this problem before.
(Although serial device problems may be devfs releated, as well). Have
you checked Red Hat's bugzilla regarding keyboard lockups, or have you
run standard RH 7.1 on this same machine? It doesn't look XFS related
at first glance.
You might want to try the Release-1.0.1 testing RPMs under the /testing
directory on the FTP site, they have quite a few updates since the 1.0
release.
