Hi! I'm encountering something that keeps me from using Linux in my environment. There is a bug in the linux kernel 2.2.18 and 2.4.present kernels that will cause some files not to show up over NFS mounts from Irix systems. I found my problem is discussed in detail at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=30944 and there is a patch for my problem: http://www.fys.uio.no/~trondmy/src/2.4.2/ BUT! I cannot get the patch to compile with the XFS kernel with devfs. I thought it would take me an hour or two but have now spent all day on it. I get though the compile with a vanilla config file (all defaults) but when linking get the following message: /tmp/cc9HoxYq.s: Assembler messages: /tmp/cc9HoxYq.s:1056: Error: suffix or operands invalid for `shl' /tmp/cc9HoxYq.s:1112: Error: suffix or operands invalid for `shl' make[1]: *** [entry.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `src/linux-2.4-xfs-r1.0/linux/arch/i386/kernel' make: *** [_dir_arch/i386/kernel] Error 2 A quick search on google resulted in a couple of anonymous posts that claim to have this working. Has anyone got this patch working with the XFS kernel? I'd love either for a binary RPM (RH 7.1) of the patched kernel or a working source tree.
