Because if you are running a DBMS the last thing you want is the OS
_also_ journalling main data writes, metadata is all that you want.
For the record I spoke to Stephen at the Linux Conference in
Birmingham 2 years ago and he stated then that metadata only was
actually more difficult than journalling everything. Steve may want
to comment further.
([OT] PS, is it pure chance that 3 of the filesystem leading names are
'Stephen' ? (g))
