Hi, :: on a Pentium III 733MHz with 512MB RAM and 4 x 30.6GB UDMA/66 7200RPM IBM :: hard drives on a RAID 5 array with a 3ware Escalade 6400 controller. I'm :: running the latest (well, as of yesterday GMT+0800) CVS of XFS. What's the chip set on that system? Intel or VIA? It's a huge difference, and I wonder why. I don't see this kind of variation on a single-CPU 440BX P2 system. I've now tried with both SCSI and IDE drives -- same result. The hdparm results drop in both cases after a certain amount of uptime (haven't been able to figure out how much yet). Also tried running in single mode, with the same result. The kernel version doesn't seem to matter. -- Juha |
