Hello all,
I compiled a new kernel (22/05/2001 22:30Z) and it
corrected the idle memory usage.

After rebooting, I recompiled the kernel. After completion
of the compile, the box showed ~200MB memory consumption.
cats of /proc/slabinfo and /proc/meminfo are attached.

Is there a way to decrease the aggressiveness of the caching
to lessen memory consumption?

I just want to congratulate everyone working on this project.
Good job all.

Steve - I promise to choose my words more carefully in the future.
