I apologize if this is a stupid question, but how could data
journalling possibly matter to anybody?
I mean, as long as the data are written to disk before the metadata
are written to the journal, there is no reliability to be gained by
journalling the data. What am I missing?
Along the same lines: Somebody else said that they power-cycled their
XFS system, ended up with garbage in one of their files, but says this
is "not a bug". Excuse me? How could a corrupted file not be a bug?
Perhaps what I am really asking is: Does XFS write the data to disk
before the metadata, or not?
Thanks!
