What is the crash and of what chipset/processor is your system based?
Is it by chance a VIA chipset?
Is it an IDE or scsi drive and on what controller?
What other devices live on the bus.
If it is an IDE drive does it have decent cabling? Did you tune the drive with hdparm like switching on DMA or other modes?
Is this under light,medium,high loads?

Kind regards

one for which it was written and

I make the last kind.
