Use the source, Luke. ;)

There are a number of routines which need to come up with
values for various fields in the volume header, which are
currently stubbed & commented:
/* do nothing in the beginning */
There are also a bunch of other fields which are guessed at,
etc (see the disk vendor string in the label ;) - someone
has a sense of humour).

This is not surprising since the author(s) had to reverse
engineer what all the fields are based only on IRIX headers
and inspection of the disk (and they've done a darn good job
without access to any source). In an ideal world, someone
(here at sgi) just needs to sit down with all the source in
question & fill in the blanks, do some IRIX interoperability
testing, etc, and get the changes off to Andries.

Theres also the other problems fdisk has in reporting the
partition numbers differently to the kernel & incorrectly
when devfs is in use, which I described in earlier mail.

Actually, we are in a better position to fix it, having good
access to IRIX boxen & the fx source as a reference, so we
should really be the ones fixing it and sending a patch (imho).
Its mainly a matter of getting managers to see it that way too,
when there's so much other work to do too...

cheers.
