well, the first thing you will need to do is recompile your linux kernel
with sgi partition support.

then, fdisk the drive the and stick a new sgi partition on it.  that way
sgi and linux can read the drive.  (this will renumber the partition to be
something like 7th or 8th partittion on the disk -- this is the way linux
handles sgi's way of doing partition tables).
