I tried XFS on an IA64 at 2.4.0, little over a month ago.
Since then XFS has moved fairly aggressively to keep up
with 2.4.{1,2} ... only in the last couple of days
there are patches available for 2.4.2 for IA64, so I haven't
tried it yet.

On 2.4.0 XFS didn't have any problems on IA64. To generate
the kernel, I applied the IA64 patch from kernel.org to
the XFS tree. There were only trivial merge issues, and
compilation went through fine. Similarly compiling xfs user-space
tools was mostly painless.
