Probably some mail system has converted the patch from tabs to spaces.
It is only a one line change, add 'conv=notrunc' to the zdisk dd
command in arch/i386/boot/Makefile.  But as Russell pointed out, an XFS
enabled kernel is too big for a floppy anyway.
